Day 1: Nairobi to Aberdares National Park
Depart from Nairobi, embarking on a scenic drive through the Central Highlands. Marvel at the majestic Mount Kenya as you wind your way towards the Aberdare National Park. In the afternoon arrive at your lodge in the Aberdares, a haven nestled amidst the cool forests. Enjoy lunch and settle into your accommodations.
In the evening embark on your first game drive in the Aberdare National Park. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and a plethora of bird species. Be on the lookout for the elusive black rhino, a critically endangered species that calls the Aberdares home.

Day 2: Aberdares – Samburu
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge before departing for Samburu National Reserve. Witness the dramatic change in scenery as you transition from the lush highlands to the semi-arid plains of Samburu. Arrive at your lodge in Samburu in afternoon and check in. Embark on an afternoon game drive, spotting the unique wildlife of the region, including the iconic Beisa Oryx, the long-necked gerenuk, and the striped Grevy’s zebra.

Day 3 : Exploring Samburu
Morning: Rise with the sun and embark on a thrilling early morning game drive. Witness the predators awakening and the herbivores grazing under the golden light, painting a picture of raw nature in action.
Mid-morning: Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your camp, followed by a visit to a local Samburu village. Immerse yourself in their rich culture and traditions, gaining insights into their unique way of life.
Evening: Enjoy evening game drive searching for the animals in hunt mood or spotting a kill and return to the camp as the sun dips below the horizon, gather around a crackling campfire and share stories of your day’s adventures under the starlit sky.

Day 4: Unveiling Samburu’s Treasures
Morning: Rise early for a thrilling game drive in Samburu National Reserve. Witness predators like lions and leopards on the hunt, and observe large herbivores grazing on the savannah.
After breakfast you can  participate in an optional activity, such as a visit to a Samburu village to learn about their unique culture and traditions and later depart from Samburu National Reserve and head back to Nairobi, arriving in the early evening.

  • The best time to visit: The dry season (December – March) is generally considered the best time to visit both Aberdares and Samburu National Reserve, offering optimal wildlife viewing opportunities.
  • Accommodation: Choose from a variety of lodges and camps in both parks, catering to different budgets and preferences.
  • Packing essentials: Pack comfortable clothing suitable for both warm and cool climates, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera.
